Design and Development of Mobile Machines

Contents

Excavators and wheel loaders are highly specialized mobile machines. Their function is to loosen and pick up material and deposit it again at a short distance.
The decisive factor for dimensioning is the capacity of the standard bucket. Using a wheel loader or excavator, the essential dimensioning steps for the design are worked through in this course. This includes, among other things

  • Determining the size class and main dimensions,
  • the dimensioning of an electric drive train,
  • the design of the primary energy supply,
  • determining the kinematics of the equipment,
  • dimensioning the working hydraulics and
  • strength calculations.

The entire sizing and design process for these machines is heavily influenced by the use of standards and guidelines. This aspect is also covered.

The course builds on knowledge from the fields of mechanics, strength of materials, machine elements, drive technology and fluid technology.
The course requires active participation and continuous involvement.
