For decades, small diesel generators have been used in industrial and mobile applications to produce electrical energy in the low power range. The generators are selected by the user on the basis of peak performance but are operated most of the time in the partial load range with poor efficiency. By adjusting the speed of the combustion engine to the optimum consumption curve, the overall efficiency of the system can be increased and fuel consumption significantly reduced.
