Abstract
The complexity of mobile machinery and economic conditions - relatively low production volumes with a high number of variants - have a significant influence on their product development. Product development mainly takes place in medium-sized companies, which are faced with high demands in order to assert themselves on the market. A promising approach is to link the companies in manufacturer-supplier networks more closely together through the use of virtual prototypes and thus achieve time and cost savings. As part of the GUSMA joint project, the Chair of Mobile Machinery at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology has developed a co-simulation platform that supports the cross-company development of virtual prototypes.
