Motivation:
In order to curb anthropogenic climate change caused by greenhouse gas emissions, fossil fuels must be replaced by climate-neutral alternatives. The use of biomass plays a central role in this. In the previous Cuboid4Log project, a high-pressure baling press was developed for producing dense miscanthus bales. In order to make the cultivation of miscanthus for energy production economically viable, a logistics chain for collecting and transporting these bales is required.
Objective:
The aim of this project is to develop a vehicle that collects the bales from different locations and stores them in a carrying frame on the vehicle. Once the carrying frame is full, it is to be loaded into a 20-foot container so that it can be transported further by truck, rail, or ship. If direct further transport is not necessary, the vehicle should also be able to deposit the bales at the edge of the field.
